Medical Coder

Location: Forest Hills

Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:30am-4:00pm

Summary of Job Duties:

The Medical Coder assigns appropriate diagnostic codes for services rendered to Community LIFE participants according to established coding guidelines; audits medical records, CLIFE code submittals “superbills”, contract provider claims, CMS reports and other documentation to ensure validity and accuracy of diagnoses submitted to CMS for payment purposes. 

Required Education:

High School graduate or equivalent with coding experience.

Required Licensure:

Certification in one of the following required:

 Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC).


Required Experience:

One year or more coding experience in a health care/ plan environment.

Required Skills:

  • Able to code using ICD10-CM
  • Able to code using CPT
  • Ability to plan and organize effectively
  • Knowledge of sampling and audit procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing 
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
  • Good personal computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed 
  • Good problem solving skills 
  • Must have a compassionate and empathetic attitude for the frail older adults.
